Are you ready for some PlayStation action? Sony is hosting its PlayStation Showcase for 2023 on Wednesday, May 24, and it promises to be a thrilling event for PS5 and PS VR2 fans. Here’s everything you need to know about the live stream, including how to watch it and what to expect.
How to watch the PlayStation Showcase May 2023
The PlayStation Showcase will broadcast live on YouTube and Twitch at 9 PM British Time.
What to expect from the PlayStation Showcase May 2023
Sony has been very secretive about what games will be featured in the showcase, but it has confirmed that it will focus on PS5 and PS VR2 games in development from top studios worldwide.
The showcase will run for a bit over an hour and will include several new creations from PlayStation Studios, as well as spellbinding games from third-party partners and indie creators.
While we don’t have any official confirmation, there are some games that we could see in the showcase based on previous announcements and rumours. Here are some of the possible candidates.
Final Fantasy XVI
The highly anticipated RPG from Square Enix was revealed at the last PlayStation Showcase in April 2021, but we haven’t seen much of it since then. Could we get a new trailer or a release date at this showcase?
Wolverine
Another surprise reveal from the last showcase, Wolverine is being developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. We only saw a brief teaser of Logan’s claws, so we’re hoping for some gameplay footage or more details on the story and setting.
The Last of Us Multiplayer
Naughty Dog has been working on a standalone multiplayer game set in The Last of Us universe, but we haven’t seen anything official yet. The studio recently posted some job listings for multiplayer-related positions, suggesting that the project is still in development. Could this be the time to reveal it?
Spider-Man 2
Speaking of Insomniac Games, they also announced Spider-Man 2 at the last showcase, featuring both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as playable characters. The trailer also hinted at Venom as a possible villain, voiced by Tony Todd. Could we see more of this web-slinging sequel?
God of War: Ragnarok
The sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War (2018) was also revealed at the last showcase, with a brief logo teaser and a voiceover from Kratos. We know that the game will continue the Norse mythology saga and feature Atreus as a teenager, but we don’t know much else. Could we finally see some gameplay or a release window?
Of course, these are just some of the possible games that could appear at the showcase. Sony could also surprise us with some new IP or some PS VR2 titles that take advantage of the next-generation headset. Whatever happens, we’re sure it will be an exciting show for PlayStation fans.
