Breath of the Wild 2 But No Switch Pro Yet: Nintendo Direct E3 2021 Quick Recap
Nintendo gave us 40 minutes packed with announcements in their Nintendo Direct event at E3 2021. Two of the biggest highlights included brand new footage for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and a new 2D Metroid: Dread game—that one, we didn’t see coming!
The showcase also featured updated ports of old and new games like Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, Mario Party Superstars, Life is Strange: Remastered Collection, and Danganronpa: Decadence.
Hyrule Warriors 2: Age of Calamity is set to receive not one, but two DLC packs, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is getting a new character, Kazuya Mishima. Nintendo has made sure that players will still have plenty to enjoy even if they’re not yet done with previous titles.
Perhaps one of the most significant announcements was by omission. The Nintendo Direct show mentioned nothing about the rumoured Nintendo Switch Pro console, despite leakers confirming its existence. Nintendo did note before the show that the Direct would focus exclusively on Switch software, so the absence of the new Nintendo hardware didn’t come as too much of a surprise.
Nintendo continued their showcase away from their E3 event with their Treehouse live stream, which was focused on displaying active gameplay. Check out the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and 2D Metroid: Dread trailers that Nintendo revealed at E3.
