Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Game Announced By Warner Bros.
Warner Bros has revealed that a separate game inspired by the Harry Potter sport Quidditch is currently in development. What we know so far is that, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will be available on PC and other gaming consoles. It’s likely safe to assume that it will be developed for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles as the last-gen consoles start to be left behind, though no release date has been provided. The game’s official title is Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, and it is being developed by Unbroken Studios.
The studio previously launched a Battle Royale game called Fractured Lands and collaborated on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. According to a recently published FAQ, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a “dynamic, competitive multiplayer game showcasing the world’s most famous magical sport.” The game, which has been in development for a few years, allows players to team up with friends online, engage in matches, and customize their characters. Due to its online nature, a constant internet connection will be required for Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and no single-player content has been announced.
In a traditional Quidditch match, two teams of seven players compete, including a Seeker, a Keeper, two Beaters, and three Chasers. Assuming the game adheres to this structure, players can expect 7v7 online matches. Playtest sign-ups are available on the game’s official website.
Interestingly, the recent release of Hogwarts Legacy did not include any Quidditch content. While players could visit the Quidditch pitch and fly a broomstick, they couldn’t participate in matches. The development of Quidditch Champions could be the reason for this omission. This isn’t the first time a standalone Quidditch game has been created; Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup offered an engaging digital rendition of the sport on PS2.
